Age-related diseases known to be exacerbated by 'Circadian Rhythm Disruption'

Circadian Rhythms are internally generated fluctuations over a 24 hour period. Our body clock runs for approximately 24 hours a day and evolutionarily was kept in sync by the rising and setting of the sun. Our modern lifestyles, including exposure to modern lighting/screens, as well as when we eat impact the normal running of our body clock, which generates various circadian rhythms.

Age-related diseases which are known in the scientific community to be exacerbated by circadian rhythm disruption include the following. There may be more, but there is evidence to support the following:

1. Neurodegenerative Diseases

   - Alzheimer’s disease

   - Parkinson’s disease

2. Cardiovascular Diseases

   - Hypertension (high blood pressure)

   - Coronary artery disease

3. Metabolic Disorders

   - Type 2 diabetes

   - Obesity

4. Mood Disorders

   - Depression

   - Bipolar disorder

5. Sleep Disorders

   - Insomnia

   - Sleep apnea

6. Cancer

   - Breast cancer

   - Prostate cancer

7. Gastrointestinal Disorders

   - Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

   - Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

By supporting a good nights sleep and promoting robust circadian rhythms we therefore hope that people may experience relief from their symptoms.
